A Message From the President

Generating Revenue Through Training

By Rita Roy President, Astute Technology

Too often organizations think of training as an expense line, and not revenue. While traditional training experts will quote time and hours saved by properly educating and training your employees, drawing a straight line to revenue gained that way is not exact.

Consider this: we know that training improves employee performance by as much as 45%. This increased productivity directly results in better products and happier customers.  However, what if you could add—in addition to those benefits—a direct revenue source for your training activities? Astute Technology can show you how to do that.

The first step is to evaluate the way your organization is creating and distributing content for training. Content creation can be costly, but it doesn't have to be. Astute Technology's Encore system provides an opportunity for organizations to use pre-existing content from current activities and transform that into learning portals. Ask us how—we do it every day for organizations and companies that you have probably heard of!  Amortizing your current expenditures is great, but getting others to pay for it is even greater. Revenue opportunity number one is born.

And once the learning portal is created, distribution can be another means of revenue opportunity. Enter revenue opportunity number two. Consider use of multi-media web-based distribution of your message. Don't limit to just the web, think about your end user and whether it is iPods, PDAs, or even DVD and hybrid DVD.  All of these distribution methods present advertising and sponsorship opportunities. They can also present pay-per-view models. Astute Technology has expertise in creatively developing variations on some well known approaches. Database technology, interactive media tools and creative thinking come together as we design unique approaches to ‘selling' your training content.

Good training ends with evaluation and measurable outcomes.  Astute Technology's trademarked Net.SCORE® system is widely used by organizations for their pre- and post- test platforms. What they didn't know before they bought Net.SCORE®  is that organizations can earn revenue while end-users are completing surveys and tests. Not only that, but outcomes data can be worth its weight in gold. Revenue opportunity number three:  interactive testing and surveying brings opportunities to message to your end-users that suppliers and other vendor organizations would be willing to pay for. Ask us how we achieve that while maintaining the separation between marketing messages, and educational content. We do it every day.

Astute Technology's Encore system and Net.SCORE® platform are so much more than your average e-learning tools. We know that they cannot be cost centers for our customers, or they will cease to provide value. Here's our value proposition:  we'll help you make money when you use our tools. Ask us how!
