George Washington University

The National Town Forum on Multiple Sclerosis

During 2003 Astute produced two successful events for George Washington University. Both programs were part of the continuing Frontiers in Medicine series.

The first program, A National Town Forum on Multiple Sclerosis, was developed for patients, caregivers and the general public. The program featured six leading medical authorities discussing treatment decisions and lifestyle issues that affect the lives of MS patients. Participants could select from several different methods to receive the information.

  1. A live meeting, broadcast from the CNN Crossfire Studio. Astute played a key role in the planning and promotion of this event, and our webcasting team broadcast the event live over the Internet.
  2. Visiting the Web site: www.frontiersinmedicine.com/MS. The site, developed by Astute, featured the live and archived webcasts, an opportunity for participants to submit questions for the speakers prior to the live meeting, and an order form to request the DVD and/or transcript.
  3. Requesting a free DVD. Astute developed the fully indexed DVD containing the video of the live event.
  4. Requesting a free transcript. Astute worked with a transcription company to produce a transcript of the live event.
The second program, Frontiers in Hypertension: Systolic Blood Pressure and the New Treatment Paradigm, was developed for primary care physicians and cardiologists. The program featured presentations by four leading experts and then an intense question and answer period including additional experts from around the country. Participants could select from several different methods to receive the information.
