American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)www.asco.org Astute Technology was selected as the vendor of choice to place the ASCO Annual Meeting online in May 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002. These ASCO Virtual Meetings contained the audio and slides from nearly 140 of the conference's presentations, 400 poster sessions, a meeting planner, an online pressroom, searchable abstracts, and an interactive virtual exhibit floor.During 2003, responding to member requests to make more presentations from the Annual Meeting available online, ASCO increased the number of the conference's presentations to nearly 270 in place of providing the Virtual Meeting. In addition, Astute Technology processed about approximately 2000 poster sessions, provided a searchable keyword database for the poster sessions and conference presentations, and designed a highlights CD containing 64 conference presentations from 10 sessions and promotional materials, utilizing FLASH technology, for the 2004 Annual Meeting. In planning for future Annual Meetings, ASCO communicated their interest in capturing all the Annual Meeting presentations to place online. Astute Technology developed a new capture technique using state-of-the-art audio; video and image capture technology to provide the service more cost-effectively and allowing us to display the presentation's animations and video. Astute Technology used the new capture technique at the 2003 December Meet the Experts event. Astute Technology was able to rapidly digitally process the captured conference content and deliver to ASCO high quality media files suitable for web cast in Real Player and Windows Media Player formats through a media player developed by Astute for ASCO. As part of our continuing relationship with ASCO, we are scheduled to capture content using the new capture technique for the 2004 Gastrointestinal Symposium and the 2004, 2005, and 2006 Annual Meeting. In addition, we will provide DVDs/CDs to highlight the conference content, process poster sessions, along with a searchable keyword Conference Content database. |
